Product Details

Product Features

Potassium Isopropylxanthate (KIPX) and Sodium Isopropylxanthate (SIPX) are almost identical in function and application, serving primarily as strong and selective collectors in the froth flotation of sulfide mineral ores. The main difference lies in the cation (potassium vs. sodium) which slightly affects their physical properties.

Product Applications

The primary use for both KIPX and SIPX is in the mining and mineral processing industries as a flotation reagent.
  • Mineral Flotation: They are widely used as strong collectors for non-ferrous heavy metal sulfide ores, including those containing copper, lead, zinc, and molybdenum. They effectively bind to these metal ions, making the minerals hydrophobic and allowing them to be separated via froth flotation.
  • Precious Metals Recovery: They have distinct advantages for the recovery of gold, silver, and platinum from auriferous (gold-bearing) iron ores and copper-gold ores.
  • Refractory Ores: They can obtain satisfactory results when floating refractory copper-lead oxide ores.
  • Organic Synthesis: In laboratory settings, potassium isopropylxanthate is utilized in organic synthesis as a reagent, including use as a metal scavenger to remove residual palladium from other chemical products.
  • Other Uses: Sodium isopropylxanthate can also be used as a rubber vulcanization accelerator and as an intermediate in some pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
