Product Features

Isopropyl Ethyl Thionocarbamate (IPETC) is a chemical reagent used as a powerful collector in the flotation process for nonferrous metallic sulfide ores like copper, lead, zinc, and molybdenum. It is a dark amber or brown oily liquid that is sparingly soluble in water but highly soluble in organic solvents. Key characteristics include its strong selectivity for certain sulfide minerals and its use in producing higher-quality concentrates, often with a lower environmental impact compared to other collectors like xanthates.

Chemical properties and appearance

  • Solubility: Partially soluble in water, but highly soluble in organic solvents like alcohol, benzene, ethyl ether, and petroleum ether.
  • Density: Approximately 990−1004kg/m³.

Product Applications

Primary uses and applications
Mining reagent: Primarily used as a collector in the froth flotation of sulfide ores.
Selectivity: Highly selective for copper, lead, and zinc sulfides, making it effective for separating these metals from others. It is a weaker collector for pyrite.
Specific ores: Particularly useful for copper-molybdenum and copper-gold ores, as well as lead-zinc and zincic sulfide ores.
Efficiency: Can reduce the amount of frother and depressant needed, leading to cost savings and lower environmental impact.
