Potassium ethyl xanthate and sodium ethyl xanthate are two important xanthate compounds with the chemical formulas C₃H₅KOS₂ and C₃H₅NaOS₂, respectively, and molecular weights of 160.30 and 158.22. Both are white to pale yellow crystalline powders, readily soluble in water, with melting points of 210℃ (decomposes) and approximately 200℃, respectively.

Product Applications
Mining flotation: Used as a flotation collector for metallic ores such as copper, nickel, lead, and zinc.
Pesticides and pharmaceuticals: Used in the production of organophosphorus/chlorinated pesticides, and as a synthetic intermediate for drugs such as thiamphenicol.
Chemical analysis: Determination of hydrogen sulfide and metal ions.
Organic synthesis: Used as an esterification reagent or metal ligand for alcohols.
